Writing Posts

1.3.1 Where to post from

There are two ways to write a post in your class:
Option 1 : Posting from the Newsfeed
Option 2 : Posting from the Class


Option 1 : Posting from the Newsfeed
1. Click 'Newsfeed' at the top of the screen > select [Posts] on the left menu. (It may be selected by default)
2. Click the white box that says 'Write here' and select the class to write your post. (Warning: if you select your name, you are posting to your home and your class members will not be able to see your post.)
3.Select groups to view your post by checking Teacher, Student, and/or Parent
4. Click [Post] button to upload.

Option 2 : Posting from the Class
1. Click 'Classes' at the top of the screen and select the class to post in.
2. Click [Posts] on the left menu.
3. Click the white box that says 'Write here' and write your post.
4. Select groups to view your post by checking Teacher, Student, and/or Parent
5. Click [Post] button to upload.

* The class admin and co-admin have access to all posts in a class, regardless of privacy setting.
* To write a post in your home: click on your profile - click 'Go to home' - and write there.
* If you want to share your post with your class members, make sure you select your class when writing the post.

 

1.3.2 Attaching photos / videos / files

  • Attach photos

Click the camera button and select a photo to upload. (if you attach a photo to a post, the photo is automatically uploaded to the main album. To upload into separate albums, upload from the album screen.)

  • Attach videos

Click the video camera button and select a video to upload. 

  • Attach file

Click the clip icon and select a file to attach.

 

 1.3.3 Inserting YouTube videos

Classting recognizes URLs from YouTube. Previews are automatically generated and playback is supported within the posting.
Embedding URL : right-click the video > click ‘copy video URL’ > right-click the displayed URL > click ‘copy’ > right-click the write-post screen in Classting > click ‘paste’

 

1.3.4 Inserting articles

Classting recognizes article URLs and automatically generates a preview.
Embedding URL : right-click the article URL > click ‘copy’ > right-click the write-post screen in Classting > click ‘paste’

 

1.3.5 Editing a post

Posts may only be edited by the original author.
1.Click the Menu button located on the bottom of the post to be edited.
2. Select [Edit post] and edit post.
3. Click 'Save' to apply changes.

 

1.3.6 Changing privacy settings

Privacy settings of a post may only be edited by the original author.
1. Click the grey button (Members/Teacher/Student/Parent) located under your name to change the privacy settings.
2. Select group(s) to view your post. (Choose from 'Teacher, Student, Parent')
3. Select [Done] to apply any changes made.

 

1.3.7 Deleting a post

Posts may only be deleted by the original author.
1. Click the Menu button located on the bottom of the post to be deleted.
2. select [Delete Post] to delete post.

 

1.3.8 Posting a reply

Click the white bar that says 'Comment' under the post to leave a comment.

 

1.3.9 Sharing a post

You can 'Share post' when you wish to share a post to another class.
Click the arrow button in the right bottom corner of the post > select class to share.

* Posts with attached files cannot be shared.

 

 1.3.10 Saving a post

1. Click the Menu button located on the bottom of the post to be shared.
2. Select [Bookmark post].
3. Bookmarked posts can be found under My Home - Bookmarks. (Click your profile on the upper right side of screen - click 'Go to Home' - click Bookmarks)

 

1.3.11 Creating a sticky post

Important posts and notices can be fixed to the top of the list of posts to ensure exposure. Creating a Pinned post may only be done by an administrator (main teacher).
1. Click the Menu button located on the bottom of the post to be pinned.
2. Click [Pin post] to fix it at the top of the list.

 

1.3.12 Reporting a post

1. Click the Menu button on the post to be reported.
2. select [Report].
3. Select your reason for reporting and click [Report].

 

1.3.13 Hiding a post

Posts that a user wishes not to see in the Newsfeed can be hidden using the [Hide] function. Click the Menu button located on the bottom of the post and select [Hide].

 

1.3.14 Selecting a topic

What is a Topic? It is a feature for categorizing and organizing posts by subjects. Posts can be filtered by Topics, to make viewing and searching posts easier.

* Create Topic
Class > click [All posts] above the writing post window > click [New Topic] > select a color and create a new topic title.

* Edit Topics
Class Home > click [All posts] at the top of the input window > in [Edit Topics], click the topic to change the color or topic title. Topics can be deleted by clicking the "x" button.
